How do you ensure historical integrity of my home is preserved?
At Period Builders, we view historic buildings as irreplaceable cultural resources. Our preservation strategy relies on meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to bridging the gap between 18th and 19th-century craftsmanship and modern living. We treat every project as a partnership, working closely with you to ensure your vision is realized without compromising the home’s "original soul" or architectural heritage.
When is the design finalized, and can I make changes later?
We only move into a formal contract once you are confident that the overall design matches your vision and budget. After the contract is signed, we complete the final, engineered construction drawings to ensure consistency and quality. While these drawings are detailed, there is still room for minor modifications during the planning stage—such as adjusting window sizes or door heights—prior to the start of construction.
Do you manage the entire construction process or work with other builders?
We take complete responsibility for the quality of our framing and the efficiency of installation. Because we know our product better than anyone, your chosen builder does not need specialized experience in timber framing to compete for your project. This approach provides you with greater flexibility in selecting the right builder for your home while ensuring the structural core meets our high standards.
What materials and finishes do you provide for the enclosure?
An integral part of our building system is the SIP (Structural Insulated Panel) enclosure, which provides a high-performance envelope for the house. While you and your builder are responsible for sealing and finishing the home, we offer select high-quality finishes at a vendor's rate. This includes windows and doors from your chosen manufacturer, as well as specialized stone for fireplaces, exteriors, and flooring.
